Yoga Paintings
These pieces are the five strongest of a series of nine paintings seeking to answer the question "What is yoga?" Each painting was done after interviewing a yoga instructor on the story of how yoga changed their life. Elba Raquel uses realistic portraits to capture the immediate essence of the person while painting a bright comic-style narrative of how each yoga instructor became a yoga teacher. Obstacles, habits, careers choices, and everything in between is depicted in these all telling narrative portraits about the meaning of yoga in the lives of these instructors.
